What happens if the weather is bad?
Winter on Mt. Hood is dynamic, but that’s part of the beauty. We run tours in most conditions and choose the safest, most enjoyable route daily. If conditions ever become unsafe (rare), we may adjust or reschedule.
Will I be cold?
Between warm drinks, steady movement, cozy pacing, a hot lunch, and our heated vehicle, most guests stay very comfortable. Dress in wool base layers and waterproof outerwear for best results.
Do tours run if it’s snowing?
Absolutely. Fresh snowfall often makes the forest even more magical. We only cancel or modify if conditions are unsafe for example high wind, sub zero temps, or no visibility.

Pickup in Portland and Hood River is 45 minutes before tour start time.
Gresham meeting point arrival is 15 minutes before start.Can I drive myself to the snowshoe location?
No. Winter roads on Mt. Hood often require chains, traction tires, and advanced mountain driving skills. We transport all guests in our winter-ready vehicle for safety and logistics.
SAFETY & FITNESS
Is this tour safe?
Yes. Your guide is trained in winter travel, route selection, weather interpretation, and emergency protocols. We avoid avalanche terrain and use beginner-friendly routes with minimal risk.
What if I can’t keep up?
We take many breaks, and the pace is intentionally relaxed. Our routes are designed for comfort, not competition.
Is it safe for kids?
Yes children aged 8+ who enjoy walking in snow tend to love this experience. For younger children, contact us and we’ll help decide if it’s appropriate.
Are there bathrooms?
We will make bathroom stops along the drive and one immediately before we get to the trailhead. There are no bathrooms at the trailhead or on the trail, we’re there for 2.5 hours before going to the next bathroom just 1 mile from the trailhead.

Is this tour suitable for seniors?
Yes many active seniors enjoy snowshoeing. As long as you can walk on uneven ground for 2–3 hours, you’ll do great.
Can guests with limited mobility participate?
